Claire Powell is an experienced retail industry projects and events professional. She benefits from over 20 years’ retail experience, including 10 years at Sainsbury’s where she thrived in the Fresh Produce department. At Sainsbury’s, Claire held the positions of Retail Operations Manager, and Trading & Retail Business Development Manager, serving as the key link between Head Office and store colleagues. During her time at Sainsbury’s, over 700 Produce Managers in the field had dotted line reporting to her, and she devised and managed training programmes for the retailer’s 10,000 produce staff – a project that impacted on store performance and sales volumes. Claire also managed major roadshows for internal and external audiences, and represented Sainsbury’s at trade shows. Currently, Claire project manages multiple contracts for Customer Journey Consultancy; helping UK-based global market leaders better understand their customers' multi-channel experiences (call centre, branch and online). She also designs and delivers complex mystery shopping scenarios to benchmark against key competitors and increase sales. And, regularly hosts retail tours with clients from all over the world. In addition, Claire’s events’ experience is extensive, having worked at locations as diverse as Windsor Castle, China and Assisi in Italy. Claire has also liaised with a huge range of senior executives from organisations including: Buckingham Palace, United Nations, World Bank, Norwegian and Chinese government bodies, religious leaders, and environmental charities, including: World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). Give her events background, Claire is currently the Business Development Director for The London Produce Show and Conference, and The Amsterdam Produce Show and Conference.
